Our School, COATESVILLE HIGH SCHOOL, CLASS OF 55, Band Director Isaiah

"Crossed That rainbow Bridge" Isaiah "Bud" Henry Zimmerman, 88, passed away at his home in Farmington, Maine, into the presence of God on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009. "Bud" was born on Nov. 7, 1920, in a farmhouse in Lower Paxton Township, to Eugene and Violet (Smeltzer) Zimmerman. He graduated from West Chester State Teachers College in West Chester, then served his country as a first lieutenant during World War II, training others at Fort Knox. On April 15, 1944, he married Marie (Kreider) and never missed, through 65 years of marriage, telling everyone that he had gotten "the prettiest girl in college." He was the most devoted husband anyone could wish for. He was a quiet, gentle, honest, and compassionate man and a wonderful, caring father. His family and friends will miss him greatly. A hard worker, he was a man of great intelligence and enjoyed history, reading, traveling and Penn State football. He was a talented musician and played his trumpet on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour when a teen. He also composed several songs, including a patriotic number, "Our Country, It Is Free" and a love song to his dear wife entitled "My Dream." Though he had worked several years as a real estate agent and financial adviser, "Bud" was best known as the beloved band director at Scott High School in Coatesville, which he had the privilege of taking to Florida in 1965 to participate in the Orange Bowl Parade. His students loved him and affectionately called him "Mr. Z." He knew Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, having been led to the Lord by his high school music teacher. He was very active in the Bible Presbyterian Church in Coatesville, Twin Valley Bible Chapel in Morgantown, Faith Bible Church in Exton, and as a member of Wagontown Union Chapel in Wagontown. Bud is survived by his wife, Marie; his son, Robert Zimmerman (formerly of Coatesville, and now residing in Farmington, Maine); his daughter, Sandra Rebert and her husband, Brian, and his three grandchildren, Elizabeth Phillips, Rebekah Rebert and Jonathan Rebert, all of Farmington, Maine; and his nieces and nephews, as well as many other relatives in the Harrisburg area. Bud never failed to thank everyone who took care of him. We would like to do the same. There are too many names to be able to list everyone personally, but we owe much gratitude to all the family, friends, neighbors, doctors, nurses, CNAs and home health aides both in Pennsylvania and Maine who supported us, prayed for us, and showed so much love and compassion. God bless you all! Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7,at the Wagontown Union Chapel, 469 W. Kings Highway, Coatesville. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Tim Crans and Pastor Brian Rebert officiating. Interment will follow in Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at the New Hope Baptist Church in Farmington, Maine. Friends wishing to do so may make donations in his memory to the Wagontown Union Chapel's Mission's Fund, P.O. Box 200, Wagontown, PA 19376. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams-McFarlane Funeral & Cremation Services, 108 Court St., Farmington, Maine.
