Butch Arnold, 76 WYOMING - Harold R. "Butch" Arnold passed away with his loving family at his side on Sun., Mar. 31, 2013, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. Butch was born in 1936 in Modena, Pa., last of five children to the late Miles and Marguerite (Templin) Arnold. He retired from the City of Dover in 1998 from the Water and Waste Department. Butch was a member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge #203, where he served as past Governor and also at one time was Acting Mayor for the Town of Wyoming. He enjoyed gardening, barbecuing, and was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley M. Arnold; five children, Harold R. "Butch" Arnold, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Magnolia, Melanie Malloy and her husband Michael of Dover, Judy Howard, Terry Arnold and Kay Lynn Miller all of Pa.; a brother, Mayor Ronald McCorkel of Modena, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Service will be 3 p.m. Wed., Apr. 3, 2013 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, where visitation will be two hours earlier. Burial will be private. William H. Backenstose of West Grove William H. Backenstose, 75, of West Grove, formerly of E. Fallowfield and Parkesburg, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 7, 2011. He was the husband of Ethel Wise Backenstose with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Born in Parkesburg, he was the son of the late William and Alene Matthews Backenstose. Bill was an area resident all his life. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960. He was employed by Philadelphia Electric retiring in 1993 as an estimator/designer. After his retirement he was employed at the Chester County Airport. He was a member of the Brandywine-Goddard Masonic Lodge #383 F.&A.M, the Shriners; the NRA, the VP-44 Squadron; the AOPA and the West Caln Sportsmen's Club. He is survived, in addition to his wife, by his son, Timothy Backenstose, husband of Holly, of Downingtown, daughter, Tammy Deranleau, wife of Greg, of Colorado; three grandchildren, Amanda Backenstose of Gaithersburg, Md., Hunter Backenstose of Downingtown, Camille Deranleau of Colorado; and sister, Denise LaMar of Bowling Green, Ky.; cousin Lois Gamble of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, David Backenstose. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, at the Oxford United Presbyterian Church, 9 Pine Street, Oxford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Neighborhood Hospice of Chester County, 795 E. Joseph Balla, 72, of Coatesville, died at his residence Monday, Feb. 25, 2008.He was the husband of Ethel Petriko Balla, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage Nov. 22.
Born in Coatesville Aug. 19, 1935, he was the son of the late Alexander and Julia Philip Balla.
He worked as a laborer at Beloit foundry and as a maintenance worker in the local wastewater treatment plant.
He was a member and president of the board of elders at Hope Fellowship Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Babette Watterson of Atglen and Anissa Maholland of Coatesville; a son, Alexander M. Balla of New Holland; a sister, Marjorie Muscatello of Coatesville; a brother, Alexander Balla of Norristown; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 1, at Hope Fellowship Church, Coatesville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Fellowship Church, 395 Madison St., Coatesville, Pa. 19320.

When I graduated, I could not visualize a 50 year reunion!!! Der liebe Gott hilft die Dummste!! I would like it to be known that my father wrote the words to our Alma Mater. He used to be superintendent of all the schools in Coatesville. Benner School was named after him. It doesn't make me a great person, but he deserves some credit.. Thanks for your concern. Hi Bill, Just found out about your web site. Looks great and impressive. I wanted to provide you with some update info on my self and my former wife, Virginia E. Hoopes, also Class of 55. Virginia died on 28 December 1990 after a two year battle with cancer. We have three children. Married to Christine L. Rutledge on 18 November 2000 Retired from the U.S. Navy and working part time for Fairfax County Park Authority. Enjoying semi-retirement and taking lots of cruises on other than "Big Gray Ships" Chris is a Special Education teacher for Fairfax County. We spend most of her school breaks and summers at our Lake House on Lake Anna.

We sold our house in Pa. in June of 2002 and moved here permanently and so far so good. We have met a lot if interesting people. Snork has his 22ft boat which we love. He does a lot of fishing and we enjoy crabbing too. We go to the Florida Keys in January and February just to get away from the cold. It is so nice and lay back there and the people are wonderful.

Patricia Ann Blacklock, 78, of Coatesville, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014 at her home in Coatesville. She was the beloved wife of Robert Gould Blacklock, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn (nee Miller) and Roy S. Brownback. She was a 1955 graduate of Scott High. She was retired from the Pepperidge Farm of Downingtown, where she worked for 20 years. Patricia enjoyed bowling and bird watching. She was a member of the Westwood Fire Co. Auxiliary. She is survived, in addition to her husband, by her daughter, Terry DiSciullo (Joseph) of Coatesville; two grandchildren, Bert and Justina DiSciullo of Coatesville; and her siblings, Leroy J. Brownback of Virginia and Linda Miller of Coatesville. She was predeceased by her sister Judith Denithorne. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 25 at 11 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Upper Octorara Cemetery of Parkesburg. Joseph Cialini, Jr., 69, of Naples, Florida and formerly of Coatesville, PA died Saturday, December 23, 2006 at home. Born in Coatesville, PA on February 10, 1937, he was the son of the late Guiseppe and Maria Ciccarelli Cialini.
Joe was a 1955 graduate of Coatesville High School and attended Villanova University. He served in the United States Army Reserves for two years. He was employed with Budd Company of Exton, and then with Ryder Truck Company in Miami, Florida. Upon his retirement, he moved to Naples, Florida. Joe was a former member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Coatesville and a member of St. Leo’s Church in Bonita Springs, Florida, where he served as an usher. Joe was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the LGM of Coatesville and was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus.
He is survived by two sisters: Julia Lattanze of Towson, MD and Nancy Pitcherella of Coatesville; three nephews: Gregory Lattanze, Stephen and Vincent Pitcherella; four nieces: Marie Martini, Patricia Woodworth, Teresa Gordon and Barbara Milleson and 21 great nieces and nephews. Additionally, four cousins: Tetziana, Vincenzina and Antonelli Ciccarelli and Louisa Pettinaro, all of Italy. He was preceded in death by a brother: Dominic Cialini.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 3 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 80 S. 17th Avenue, Coatesville, PA 19320. Family and friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at the Harris-Mountain Funeral Home, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville. Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Coatesville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Rosary Church at the above address or to the Joseph Cialini, Jr. Scholarship Fund, c/o Villanova University, Office of Development, 800 Lancaster Avenue, Villanova, PA 19085-1673.

Regret to inform you that Bob Collins advised today that Richard Ruth, our class member, has passed away. Richard served honorably in the Air Force. He worked for Allegheny Ludlum Steel Co., was an Independent Trucker, worked for Sellers Trucking of Unionville, and retired from Earth Grow Corp in Toughkenamon. Richard was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church serving on many committees there. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sara (Miller) Ruth. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 25 at 11 AM at Mt. Zion AME Church, 404 Zion Hill, Atglen, PA followed by internment in Church of Christ Cemetery in East Fallowfield. A viewing will be held from 9 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. I just found out about this web page, glad I did it has my Class of 1955,Scott High and I am on the class reunion committee,the info is helpful. 4 children and 4 grand children, after school i worked in auto repair before going to the post office. Started as a letter carrier and latter became the postmaster of Kennett Square. Retired at 55 and worked at the Pennsylvania Liquor Stores for years and retired again at age 65.
